Kingston MRI is a community based MRI clinic licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
We have performed MRI scans on over 11,500 patients in the last year and over 185,000 patients since opening in 2003. We offer examinations that cover Neuro, Body, Breast and Musculo-skeletal cases. We provide 110 hours per week of OHIP-insured MRI services. MRI services to non OHIP-insured patients (e.g. Workers Safety and Insurance Board, Canadian Armed Forces, funded research studies, etc.) are provided outside of the core hours. All MRI services require referral from a physician licenced by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Kingston MRI is operated by the local Kingston Radiologists and has state-of-the-art technology. Our goal is to provide patients with the highest quality of MRI service, increased access and decreased waiting times. We are located at 776 Blackburn Mews East, Kingston, between ParaMed and KMI X-Ray and Ultrasound.
All MRI studies are interpreted by the same Radiologists providing MRI interpretation to Kingston General Hospital, Hotel Dieu Hospital, Kingston Regional Cancer Center, Providence Continuing Care Centre, Ongwanada Resource Centre, and the Ontario Breast Screening Program. These Radiologists hold academic appointments at Queen’s University’s Faculty of Health Sciences, where they are involved in medical research and training of future Radiologists and other health care professionals. The same group of Radiologists also operates KMI X-Ray and Ultrasound in two Kingston locations: 835 Princess Street and 776 Blackburn Mews East.
Kingston MRI has established a Quality Advisory Committee to continuously monitor quality control and quality assurance programs. This includes patient safety and satisfaction surveys, referring physician satisfaction questionnaires, and inspections by an MRI physicist to check the performance of the MRI unit. To receive a scan at Kingston MRI, patients must be referred by a physician certified with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
