We are proud to offer comprehensive ultrasound services utilizing state-of-the-art technology and a team of highly skilled healthcare professionals. Our ultrasound department is dedicated to providing accurate diagnoses and exceptional patient care in a comfortable and supportive environment.

With a focus on delivering high-quality imaging, we perform a wide range of ultrasound examinations to address various medical needs. From obstetrics and gynecology to abdominal and vascular imaging, our experienced sonographers and radiologists are equipped to provide detailed and reliable results.

KMI X-ray & Ultrasound is a completely film-less operation using both Digital and Computerized imaging Technology in conjunction with our Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS). This allows us the flexibility of being able to transmit all images to each clinic and both KGH and HDH for our radiologists. Performing imaging with our PACS has allowed us to become a greener clinic, since all hazardous chemicals used for processing film are no longer required.

Our ultrasound services cover a broad spectrum of medical specialties, including fetal imaging, pelvic and reproductive organ examinations, abdominal and gastrointestinal imaging, vascular studies, and more. We utilize advanced ultrasound machines that produce clear and precise images, allowing our radiologists to make accurate diagnoses.

Being film-less is more than a commitment, it is the face of advancing technology and a direction that KMI has made a priority. PACS allows for rapid storage and retrieval of patient images without compromising image quality. Radiologists are able to call up an examination and report those examinations off site or on site, capitalizing on the strength and expertise possessed by our group of Professionals.

Ultrasound FAQ

What is an Ultrasound?2023-06-26T15:47:56+00:00

An ultrasound scan is a medical examination that uses high frequency sound waves to create a picture of a part of the inside of your body. The Sonographer uses a probe called a transducer that gives off sound waves. The transducer looks like a microphone on a wire. The sound waves reflect off the organs inside your body, and the transducer captures the reflection and the computer turns it into an image.

Is an Ultrasound safe?2023-06-26T15:48:13+00:00

Yes, when the appropriate frequencies are applied, ultrasound is the safest imaging modality available.

Can Ultrasound see everything?2023-06-26T15:48:31+00:00

Ultrasound is most useful for soft-tissue imaging such as abdominal and pelvic organs, muscles, ligaments and blood vessels.

Are there preparation instructions?2023-06-26T15:48:56+00:00

Yes, however, these vary with the examination.  We will provide you with instructions when you book and in your reminders.

Can I bring someone with me to the exam?2023-06-26T15:49:18+00:00

Ultrasound studies are primarily medical in nature.  We recognize that sometimes emotional or other support is required.  We ask that additional family members in the room are limited to one person only.

Can I bring my child into the room with me?2023-06-26T15:49:36+00:00

Since this is a medical examination, the Sonographer needs to focus on you.  It is best that you arrange for child-care during your examination.

Do I need to wear a gown?2023-06-26T15:50:04+00:00

For most Ultrasound exams you will not have to change.  Your Sonographer will guide you.
